There comes a time in every drunken night when desires shift, and another drink, no matter how delicious, just won’t do it. Whether it happens on a street corner outside the bar or at home in standing in front of the refrigerator, when it strikes, there’s no escape: You’ve been hit with the drunchies.
It happens to the best of us. Including bartenders, who often find themselves starving at the end of a long shift, even when they haven’t been drinking. So here are some late night eats suggestions from the pros—pizza, tacos, poutine, oh my! Or you can just eat peanut butter straight from the jar like you planned. It’s your call.
The Classic Option
From New York slice joints to gas station frozen, pizza is obviously the classic late night snack. “You just can’t beat the late night pizza in Chicago,” says Whitney Morrow of Bordel. Her pizza of choice is at the Boiler Room, “this trendy, retro spot in Logan Square.” Whether you like your pizza deep dish or thin crust or somewhere in between, we promise not to judge.
